RAP LEGEND RZA RECOUNTS FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH HIP HOP MUSIC

American Hip Hop/Rap legend RZA has recounted his first ever encounter with Hip Hop music in 1976, some 47 years ago in Staten Island, New York, United States of America.

1976 would alway remain a very special and big year for RZA. It was the year he made his first encounter with the genre Hip Hop and listened to the sound in a place called Park Hill where he listened to Hip Hop and fell in love with it.

The park had some DJs, and at the time, there were no records or CDs n existence. RZA recounted how the DJ scratched and someone picked up the microphone and said: “

“Dip Dip Dive So So-cialize, Clean out your ears and you open you eyes”

On recounting this story from the highlands of Scotland while sipping some Ballantine’s whisky, RZA acknowledged the same feeling he felt in 1976 listening to Hip Hop is the same feeling he felt while taking a sip.
