Inside the Sudden Fame and Financial Drama of Cameroon’s ‘Human Calculator‘ Genesis Nkeh

Every once in a while, social media gifts us a story so raw and impressive that an entire nation pauses to watch. For Cameroon, that story belongs to Genesis Nkeh the young man from Bambalang in the Ngoketunjia Division who earned the nickname “Human Calculator” for his astonishing ability to crunch complex math in seconds.

Growing up between Bambalang and Babungo, Genesis faced severe financial and health challenges early in life, forcing him to drop out of a technical accounting program. To survive, he spent long days selling detergent on the streets of Bamenda. Yet beneath that modest exterior lay Genesis who could solve large-scale multiplication, division, and decimal calculations in 5 to 8 seconds flat, often finishing before people could even type the numbers into a digital calculator.

When street videos of his rapid calculations hit Facebook and TikTok, Genesis became an overnight online sensation. His sudden fame brought national spotlight, leading to live demonstrations on CRTV’s Cameroun Feeling, features on Équinoxe TV, and public support from organizations like the Ayah Foundation offering healthcare and educational assistance.

However, the rapid transition from street hawker to national celebrity has hit a bitter bump in Yaoundé and Bamenda.

Genesis’s manager, Sam Joker, alongside his advisory team, announced their sudden resignation, citing safety concerns and background complications.

The split turned messy hours later when Genesis publicly claimed his manager withheld money, alleging that out of 1.1 million FCFA given following a major TV appearance, he only received 200,000 FCFA.

Both sides have brought out their claims but the public is yet to know the true cause of their suden separation.
