36.500 Killed in Iran’s Deadiest Massacre

More than 36,500 Iranians were killed by security forces during a nationwide crackdown on protests on January 8–9, according to reports. The two-day assault is described as the deadliest protest-related massacre on record, with no other demonstration resulting in comparable casualties.

Iran International’s Editorial Board says it has verified the death toll after examining classified documents, on-the-ground reports, and testimony from medical personnel.

Documents attributed to Iran’s Interior Ministry indicate that security forces confronted demonstrators in over 400 cities and towns, with more than 4,000 separate clash sites recorded across the country.

Iran International has renewed its appeal to Iranians at home and abroad to submit any relevant evidence. This includes documents, videos, photographs, audio testimonies, information about those killed or injured, details of medical facilities involved, locations of clashes, timelines, and any other verifiable information related to the recent events.
