DV Lottery Applicants Now Required To Pay $1 Fee And Provide Valid Passport
The United States has introduced several updates to the 2027 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery to improve transparency and security in the application process. Below are the key changes applicants should know:
1. $1 Application Fee
Applicants must now pay a $1 fee (550CFA) when submitting their DV Lottery entry online. Previously, registration was free.
2. Valid Passport Requirement
A valid, unexpired passport is now mandatory. Applications without passport details will be automatically disqualified.
3. Online Payment Only
The $1 fee (550CFA) must be paid online through the official DV Lottery website using approved electronic payment methods such as credit or debit cards.
4. Passport Image Upload
Applicants must upload a JPEG scan of their passport’s biographic page (the page containing the photo and personal details).
5. Form Terminology Update
The entry form will now use “Sex” instead of “Gender” and “Date of Birth” instead of “Age” to match official travel documents.
6. Important Dates & Eligibility
– Effective Date: April 10, 2026
– Expected Registration Period: Around October 2026 for the DV-2027 program
– Cameroon Eligibility: Cameroon remains eligible; Nigeria is currently the only African country excluded in the region.
