Akwaya Boy A.K.A OKUNOL is a 2018 Taydays Award winning upcoming Cameroonian artiste who hails from Akwaya in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. The Buea based rapper was born in the village of Kembong in the year 1996.
The artiste who found his voice around hip hop tells us that Pidgin, English and French are the languages he is best in when he jumps on any instrumentals. Since he found his voice, music has always been his passion since the year 2015 in the town of Bamenda where he was inspired by rappers such as Nigeria’s Dremo, Cameroon’s Jovi, America’s Ace Hood and K Sweet just to name a few.
Okunol is currently a student of Journalism and mass communication in the University of Buea.
Talking about the 237Showbiz Music Competition, “It is a big opportunity for me to show the world what I’m made of and what Cameroonians can do in the music business world” he says.
“To continue if at all I emerge victorious in the 237music competition 2018 I will use the 300.000CFA to promote my music to another level by producing an album which will feature so many upcoming artist in the industry so as to give them a chance to expose their talents to the nation and the world at large” he added.
Akwaya Boy went ahead to drop his thoughts about the platform @237Showbiz and how he feels about the efforts put in by the platform to foster the growth of entertainment in Cameroon.
