According to a close source, Mimie is leaving Pit Baccardi ‘s Empire Company with the main reason being that she felt exploited especially given the fact that she was one of the main breadwinner’s of the label . She felt used because after giving numerous hit songs like “Faya” , “Ten Ten” & money from performances in some the biggest shows in country, what she had as reward from the label wasn’t enough for her .

It’s with this Ideology that Mimie has decided to quit the label . Whether she is going solo or signing to another label remains a story for another day but as of now , we are witnessing the exit of a star from one the biggest labels in Cameroon

Pit Baccardi came on social media a few days ago to Express his thoughts about Francophone rap as he said on twitter that “Ivorian Rap is the of Francophone rap in Africa” .However,  This tweet of admiration didn’t go down well with Cameroonian Rap Fans as most people felt bad disappointed for this statement to be coming from him although it was true, They felt like he was the one to use his influence to make Cameroon Rap bigger than any other one in Francophone Africa as he could have promoted the Hiphop Culture by pushing numerous rappers as no one in Cameroon has benefited from his positions as Universal Music Director General In Ivory Coast .

Many raised their voice earlier enough, Artistes, civilians, celebrities just to name a few, the likes of Mr Leo, Tzy Panchak, Salatiel, Magasco, produced and released songs condemning the killings and instability at the time. Despite all these efforts, the Cameroonian populations most especially in the areas affected and the diaspora kept pressurizing their favorite artistes to do a peace song together calling out the killings as the death tolls only kept rising. Unfortunately all attempts to do a peace song together fell on deaf ears.

However, a recent campaign was launched and it was to call for the same peace song Cameroonians have been requesting years ago. The likes of Salatiel, Blaise B, Minks’, Edi Ledrae, Magasco, Boy Tag, Daphne, Nabila, KoC and a host of others jumped on a song entitled “We Need Peace” the audio was release some weeks a ago and the video shoot was done yesterday in Douala with Dr Nkeng Stephens behind the eyes of the Camera. A good number of Cameroonian bloggers reacted in different ways, one might think its to boost the page views but it seems even the followers, trolls, and fans had views not different from theirs. These exploits definitely make of Magasco a major player in Cameroonian music. So why will we be wondering whether he can shutdown the Yaoundé Multi-purpose Sports Complex?

The Empire Company superstar has a lot of fans. His fanbase has grown almost at an exponential rate, but these fans are mostly in the English-speaking parts of the country. This aspect might pose a major hindrance as his fans might not be able to displace themselves for just a concert and the predominantly Francophone public of Yaoundé might not feel very concerned about his music since the main language in his music is pidgin.

Also, we know that Maahlox who is the first to fill up the Yaoundé Multi-purpose sports complex received a lot of support from artistes and now Tenor who is scheduled to have his mega concert on 18th August 2018 is receiving a lot of support from other artistes and even Samuel Eto’o who is unarguably the most influential star in Cameroonian sports has confirmed his presence for this concert. But Magasco’s art has been the sole architect of his success and even though he has fairly good relations with many artistes, it is no guarantee that he will receive the same amount of support from such dignitaries, for an artiste like Jovi who once was sort of a mentor to Magasco but yet both men had a fall out when Jovi attacked Pit Baccardi who is the boss of Empire Company.

Even though Magasco has excused himself more than once for his involvement in a verbal battle with Jovi, it is still unclear what relations they have now, we all saw the support Jovi showed Maahlox, will he do same for Magasco if he were to announce a concert at the Yaoundé Multi-purpose complex. And what about Samuel Eto’o, will he associate his name to a Magasco concert? On the other hand, Magasco is an A list artiste with more than one hit and he is also the frontline man of one of Cameroon’s most influential record labels and as such the other members of the Empire Company crew such as

Less than a week ago, the French artiste Dadju, had his first ever concert in Cameroon. In a highly anticipated concert which held on 28^th July 2018 at the Yaounde Multi­-purpose sports complex, the artiste had the opportunity to relate with his fans and the organization of the events had home artistes such as Ko-C, Mimie and others perform ahead of him. The event seemed to be a great success as there was great euphoria witnessed among fans, especially the female ones. But Pit Baccardi’s Empire Company who was in charge of the production of the concert thinks otherwise. A few days ago Empire Company put out a press release aimed at informing the general public of the misbehavior of the organizers of this concert who contracted them to produce it. Empire Company decries the withholding of 23,000,000FCFA by Learn Life Events which they incurred at the level of covering various expenses related to the arrival and stay of the French artiste in Cameroon, expenditures which the organizers of the concert claimed they were unable to cover and thus through the Director of Learn Life Events Joel Temgoua a document permitting Empire Company to cover these expenses was signed. Empire Company goes ahead to accuse Learn Life Events of not respecting various norms pertaining to the security of fans in their sale of tickets for this concert. Empire Company also apologized to all fans who had paid for an after party with the artiste given that the after party did not hold and also promised that measures were being taken to assure total reimbursement of disappointed fans, they ended by recognizing and promising to take full responsibility for any mishaps that occurred during the concert especially at any level that they intervened and calling on Learn Life Events to do same, meanwhile  Empire Company is taking Learn Life Events to court on charges of breach of trust and fraud. As at now, Learn Life Events does not seem to have responded to these accusations, and now fans are beginning to wonder if this situation will not create some skepticism among foreign artistes who might ever want to come to Cameroon for shows and events.
