Cameroonian Music Lovers will never forget when the longest serving female artiste from New Bell Music shocked Africa with her viral hit “Dans La Sauce” in 2016.

8 years later the big question is Does RENISS still got “The Sauce” ?

Between the years 2014 to 2017, RENISS topped the charts as far as female music artistes were concerned. Under the umbrella of New Bell Music and the mentorship of an incredible producer Jovi LeMonstre, RENISS served us with series of hits, incredible choruses and enchanting adlibs that helped in paving her way to becoming one of the best female artistes of her generation.

Fans will never forget May 6, 2016 when she dropped her viral hit “La Sauce” (Dans La Sauce) her biggest hit till date. It was the landmark of her music career and this undisputed success set in to solidify her place in the music industry. The song was so big that it naturally made its way into the dressing room of the indomitable lions of Cameroon during their 2017 AFCON campaign in Gabon and became the theme song of the lions, fans and even some oppositions when they won a match.

Currently at 16 Million views on YouTube, La Sauce, produced by Jovi LeMonstre with Tatapong Beyala creating the storyline and directed by Ndukong caught the attention of Orange Cameroon and they used the line “Dans La Sauce” for an advert with the Indomitable Lions. On the poster, we could clearly see the likes of Oyongo Bitolo, Fai Collins, Toko Ekambi, Michael Ngadeu and a host of others holding ingredients and posing while surrounding a steaming post. Orange captioned it “…dans la Sauce”. We could clearly recall a using Jovi on Twitter calling out Orange for using a line of the song without permission.

Fats forward to the success of the 2017 AFCON competition with the Indomitable Lions returning home with the trophy and presenting it to the Head of State President Paul Biya, while reading his congratulatory speech for the Indomitable Lions, he referenced RENISS hit song saying ‘Vous les mettez tous dans la Sauce” following laughter and cheers from other government officials present.

With all the success in the previous years, RENISS has been unable to serve fans with another successful jam like “La Sauce”. She parted ways with New Bell Music amicably and opened her own record label RINGA REC, she equally launched her spices and ingredients brand “La Sauce de Reniss“. Notwithstanding, as family, she still collaborates with New Bell Music, her former producer and director on new projects with her label. Her recent singles include: Time No Dey feat. Jovi, Eding, Ça Marche and Un Peu Un Peu.

New Bell Music head honcho JOVI has unveiled his 5^th studio album entitled “2035”. The Mboko God dropped the 13 track album on September 24, 2023 exclusively to his supporters for a price of 25.000 CFA.

A look at the track lists sees the Man Pass Man 5, a collaboration with French rapper Youssoupha on the track Nouvel Homme, RENISS in track 7 titled Merci, and Tao o track 11 entitled Up Nord.

The album boast executive producer credits, mix and mastering credits as well as producer credits to Jovi under the pseudonym Le Monstre except track 4 “Mon Anniversaire” which was produced by Rex OTB. Stream the album below on all streaming platforms like Boomplay.

It is worthy to note that all New Bell Music artistes publish their videos on the official YouTube page of the label. If TATA is creating one today, it therefore means he is no longer affiliated with New Bell Music or his contract with the label is one of a partnership.

Fellow label colleague ISHAKU also created his own YouTube channel and is still an artiste under New Bell Music. If TATA is following suit, then he may still be an artiste under the label but with a different YouTube channel.

The rapper’s 10 year stay with the label blessed his fans with musical projects like Dey No Di Force Love EP, No Holidays EP and Wild Fire EP. We can’t wait to see what the rapper and Lunga Sound has instore for us.

The song “Shine The Light” was influenced by African Gospel and possesses the African sound as well as a fusion of old-school sound blended with futuristic accents. It is unclear why the 47 year old Konvict Music boss took down the video from his YouTube channel given that it is one of the very first songs co-produced and co-written by an African artiste for the Konvict Music head honcho.

For those new to these two developments, Jovi having a song with Akon and it being removed from YouTube before listening to it, thanks to piracy, the song is available on other YouTube channels in it’s audio format. 2 EPs in 2 weeks, Cameroonian rapper Jovi feeds fat his fans one more time with 4 track EP titled Yaje Volume II: Sun Yellow. After dropping his previous EP titled Raps 2 Riches 2, Jovi continues his Yaje EP series. The EP containing the original Jovi signature of Mboko has songs such as the already released single “Strong Enemies, OG Raps, Truth and Free Music II. Jovi joins forces with co-producer Chavez on tracks such as Truth and OG Raps.

Off his debut EP under the umbrella of New Bell Music and Jovi mentorship, Pascal Yung King in track 5 paints a picture of his childhood as he explains how growing up, farming was the main activity that brought something to the table. The harsh living conditions in his home can be heard from the 50th second of this track. However, Pascal found solace when he embraced music and began writing every story in a song.

4. Check Sense

Pascal’s verse on the song Check Sense with his mentor Jovi was his passport to fame and the hearts of many. Perhaps one of the best collaborations ever recorded in the Cameroonian music industry in the last 10 years. Off the EP Kankwe Vol 2 by Jovi, Pascal thrilled fans yet again and motivates listeners to always think out of the box and be smart enough to hustle. Although the means he’s projecting that of one selling their properties to make ends meet, the message can be converted to mean that one should work hard so they can drive away poverty.

King Don Kam, pidgin translation for “The King is here” Pascal compares his past and that of his present in track 8 off his debut album titled Work Dey 3. The first verse sees him thanking God for seeing a brand new day as he goes down to his knees to give God thanks. Pascal explains how hunger was the order of the day but that didn’t last for long. The rapper goes ahead to give a shout out to his mentor Jovi whom he claims picked him up from the gutters and brought him to the city and put him on his label New Bell Music.
