Wax Dey Sues Rapper Melcube & YouTuber Prince MisterJaay Njoya For Defamation of Character

Calabash Music boss Wax Dey is dragging rapper Melcube and YouTuber Mister Jaay to court for defamation of character according to a press release of October 24th 2022.

With its objectives of to bridging Cameroonian Music and International markets, Calabash Music has been working over the years to build a platform with South African companies to serve for the exportation of Cameroonian artistes one of which has been the signature of one of Africa’s most talented female singers, Ewube Official 2.0, to South Africa’s biggest independent music label, Open Mic Productions.

The label calls out Melcube and Mister Jaay for publishing invidious information on Facebook, implying that the founder of Calabash Music, Mr. Nde Ndifonka has been “forcing himself on EWUBE’s deal” with Open Mic Productions, for personal motives that are detrimental to the artiste. In that line of analogy, they call him a “SNAKE in the industry”

According to the press release, Melcube and Misterjaay’s statements have called the attention of Calabash Music partners, including Open Mic Productions, and has the potential of destroying their relationship, destroying the illustrious work that the entire Calabash Music Team has been putting in over the years, and could destroy the opportunities that our work has created for artists like Ewube and many other Cameroonian artists to come.

Thus making Calabash Music to take legal actions against Melcube and Misterjaay for their malicious and defamatory statements in accordance with Article 78 of Law No 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 on cyber security and cyber-criminality in Cameroon. If both men are found guilty, they are liable to face 6 (Six) months to 2 (two) years imprisonment and a fine of 5000.000CFA to 10.000.000 CFA.

On our Previous Post, We spoke about French Manager & Football Development expert Arsene Wenger as he said that if Kylian Mbappe was trained as a footballer in Cameroon instead of Europe,then he wouldn’t have been the star he is today.He used Cameroon as an example to talk about the poor development of players in Africa .

This Statement however didn’t sit well with Mr Arrogant Wax Dey who has replied Wenger by saying that

“If Wenger had Coached Real Madrid, Then they wouldn’t have won any titles .”

Shura Leaves Steven’s Music for Calabash Music

Former Steven’s Music Entertainment LLC singer Shura signs a new management,distribution and publishing deal with Wax Dey ‘s Calabash Music 237 .

This deal is a partnership between her label Shura Musik and Calabash Music and is aimed at aiding the artist break into the international market, as well as open up multiple income streams for the business that her brand represents.

Shura Tatiana Fru exploded on the Cameroonian music scene in 2018 with the hit song ‘Allez Dire’ under Stevens Music. Since then, the charming crooner has maintained a steady presence on the music scene with her iconic afrosoul rhythms delivered in English, French and her native tongue, Akum.

The multilayered deal follows months of fruitful functional partnerships, and comes ahead of the release of Shura’s debut album: PRIMED. The 18-track album will be available on pre-orders online on 4 November, while the official release is set for 11 November on all digital platforms.

Wax Dey Reveals He Sued Shakira Over $400.000 For “Zangalewa” – 237Showbiz

Cameroonian Singer, Songwriter and Entrepreneur Wax Dey has revealed one of the biggest debts of Author’s Rights paid in the Cameroon Music Industry. This is the case of the popular and award winning hit song “Zangalewa” released in 1986 by Cameroon music group known as Golden Sounds made up of Jean Paul Ze Bella, Dooh Belley, Luc Eyebe and Emile Kojidie. The song was used in 2010 by Colombia superstar Shakira to compose the football anthem “Waka Waka” (This Time For Africa) drawing its inspiration from the traditional African Makossa sound from Cameroon originally composed by Zangalewa in 1986.

Speaking LIVE on 237Showbiz on February 23rd 2021, Wax Dey reveals he led a delegation which took Shakira to court on the basis of author’s rights and her team settled Zangalewa with an advance payment of $400,000 ( 215. 850.000CFA) and for every 3 months, Zangalewa members receive millions on author’s rights for the hit song they made years ago.

Wax Dey goes ahead to call on artistes and music makers to be stern as far as author’s rights are concerned.

“En route” to his up and coming EP titled “Rise Again EP” (Lockdown EP) Cameroonian songster Wax Dey has been flooding his Facebook timeline with his previous collaborations with some African stars like Yemi Alade, Master KG and Don Tom. His collaboration with Nigerian singer Don Tom had the singer revealing some hidden facts.

Wax Dey unveiled that his remix with Don Tom on the popular song “I Don See My Wife” was the first African music video shot on RED, a very high resolution video camera. Wax Dey added that they paid Godfather $10.000 for the video and recouped a whooping sum of $45.000 touring straight after the release. See the post shared on his official Facebook page below!
