Redundancy in King Luca Sound – A Look Into The King Luca x Rappnem “Productionship”

All eyes are on rising sensation King Luca, hailed by many as the future of Cameroonian Urban music thanks to his consistency in delivering impressive hit songs, earning international nominations, collaborations and performing across the country and overseas. However, fans have begun to point out noticeable similarities and redundancy in his songs, prompting discussion about the evolution of his sound.

Assessing an artiste’s career in terms of sonics requires attention to growth, versatility, and adaptability and in King Luca’s case, his journey has been strongly shaped by his longstanding collaboration with producer Rappnem Drummer. Together, they crafted a recognizable style that quickly became part of his brand, marking a major milestone in his rise.

As the industry shifts, repetition can easily become a creative limitation. King Luca and Rappnem’s commitment to a familiar production approach has resulted in songs that, while enjoyable, often feel predictable. Tracks such as “Fragile,” “Seulement,” “Orey,” and several others carry similar beat patterns, vocal arrangements, and overall texture. It is worthy to note that in the early days of his career, King Luca worked with producer Bafaw Boi on the track “Seeker of Love,” but that partnership did not continue as he later found stronger chemistry with Rappnem a move that, while successful, may have narrowed his sonic palette.

To elevate his artistry further, King Luca would benefit from diversifying his sound and breaking beyond the current formula. Experimenting with new genres, rediscovering old influences, and collaborating with a wider range of producers could open unexplored dimensions of his music.

This doesn’t require abandoning Rappnem; rather, it invites expansion. By embracing sonic evolution, King Luca can keep his fan base energized, attract new listeners, and strengthen his position within the rapidly growing Cameroonian music scene.

Akumba Music Starboy Elisha Kiehmehnyi Mangi popularly known as Elisha K has fed fans fat with sophomore EP Days of Elisha Epistle II. The EP is now available on streaming platforms. A 7 track body of work that comes to solidify Elisha K’s position in Cameroon as the Prince of Afrobeats.

Akumba Music Signs New Artiste King Luca

Sah Muhamed Umaru, 21, known professionally as King Luca joins Akumba Music for an artiste development, music production, distribution and image management record deal for the next 7 years.

The youngster who doubles as a nursing student hails from the Northwest Region of Cameroon precisely from Nso and was discovered by Akumba Music after dropping an eyebrow raising verse on the Open Verse Challenge on Elisha K’s “Joana”. According to the label, the singer’ verse was so captivating it pushed the label to do a remix of the song which features in Elisha K’s forthcoming EP “Days of Elisha Epistle II”.

Akumba Music believes in the originality, lyrical prowess and delivery quality and it is what has earned the “Wonder Kid” a spot in the label where legacies are created.

We shall be listening to King Luca for the very first time on July 12, 2024 on the project Days of Elisha Epistle II on the song “Joana Remix”

Elisha K Drops Debut EP ‘Days of Elisha’

Akumba Music announces the official release of the debut EP of their Star-boy Elisha K entitled “Days of Elisha (Epistle 1) on all streaming platforms. The 5 track EP was released on October 13, 2023 by Akumba Music. It boast of collaborations from fellow label mate Rinyu in track 2 titled ‘Loner‘ and 2023 Canal d’Or nominee Hen’s.

Elisha K is an Afrobeats virtuoso who have taken time to hone his talent and fine tune his craft. After a year of hard work and artiste development, the label has curated a great number of projects to launch the artiste’s career. The EP Days of Elisha is set to mark a new dawn for Cameroon music.
