Cameroonian singer and producer Salatiel, head honcho of Alpha Better Records has dropped his 2nd studio album titled “Family Man” which is now available on streaming platforms.

The album is a follow up of Salatiel’s debut album tagged “Africa Represented” released in February 26, 2021 which includes the remix of Beyonce’s Water which featured Salatiel and Pharell Williams in the original track. The 11 track album highlights the likes of MIMIE, Charlotte Dipanda in track 6 “Closer” and LOCKO on track 11 with “First Lady”

UCB’s 50^th anniversary celebrations was not just about having a concert and bringing artistes together to sing and merry. The entire anniversary celebrations started off with celebrating its founding father Joseph Kadji Defosso Fua Toula who passed away on the 23^rd of August 2018 in Johannesbourg, South Africa at the age of 95.

UCB in 1972 after creation employed over 1000 workers and produced 500.000 hectoliters of its Special soft drink and 800.000 hectoliters of beer such as King, Kadji, K44 a month. His contribution to the Cameroonian economy is worth celebrating.

The celebrations further moved to the “Raise Your Glass” whereby influencers and celebrities such as Moustik Le Karismatik, Salatiel, Kang Quintus, Witty Minstrel were invited to push the agenda, these celebrities and influencers raise their glasses at every moment to celebrate UCB 50 years of excellence in the brewery industry.

Celebrating the brand 50^th anniversary in quality, taste and excellence and leaving out the giant force responsible for its production at the background was inevitable. UCB through the Raise Your Glass employees and communities awarded medals of honor to its employees on October 20^th 2022 in Douala, Cameroon. The celebration later heightened when UCB sent 30 winners to QATAR for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to support the indomitable lions. Check the first wave of UCB and its customers heading to Cameroon’s first game against Switzerland in Qatar.

After the FIFA world cup, UCB closed the year with arguably the biggest concert in Cameroon in 2022 with a lineup of some of Cameroon’s biggest music stars such as Mr Leo, Salatiel, Rinyu, Lady Ponce, Petit Pays, MIMIE. The concert took place at the Bepanda Omnisport Stadium in Douala and was termed the Concert by UCB.

Headlining the concert was Nigerian superstar Kizz Daniel with a spectacular and unforgettable performance with hit songs such as Buga, Cough, No Wahala and No Do. Kizz Daniel revealed on stage that the Concert by UCb was the best he had done in the last 6 months. Relive the moment below in picture of how it went down.

UCB’s 50^th anniversary was worth celebrating. With the manner in which the entire campaign was well structured and planned, they should definitely celebrate each and every year.

This phenomenon has been rising faster than the amount of hit songs in our Industry .It all starts usually with either a photo-shopped screenshot of an Instagram or

Facebook Dm from a foreign a rtists or An edited voice-note to say this artist is endorsed . A mess which reflects desperation and an endless need for validation .

An example of this phenomenon is the alleged Dm American Singer Nicki Minaj sent to rising female Rapper Peace T which is everywhere .

While this was a strategy by her team to market her new EP “Trap Queen” . One can only wonder about the damaging effects of such stunts in the long run .Imagine if Beyoncé contacted Salatiel and he posted a Screenshot of his chat with her , He might not have worked with her in the first place due to such Unprofessionalism

Mic Monsta advised us a few months back that let the work speak for young artists and as such , “Trap Queen” should speak for Peace T and not a Nicki Minaj Dm because when it’s all said and done all that will be left is the music .

We could also affiliate this trend to Lack of Support but support is a form of respect which comes organically based on work ethic and quality .So if our artists aren’t having support , they need to work harder, the time concentrated on short term trends like these could be time used to increase the output of a song .We have to clean this mess together or else , our artists especially the rising ones will hardly have long lasting careers & will keep on making 4 steps back and 1 step forward .

Stream Peace T ‘s New EP “Trap Queen” :

Singer Salatiel has paid homage to Cameroonian living legend Adolphe Claude Alexandre Moundi popularly known as Petit Pays in new single titled “Pelé”. The Alpha Better Records head honcho uses Brazilian football legend Edson Arantes Do Nascimento aka Pelé’s works as a measuring rod to level up that of Petit Pays success. The Brazilian scored 1.279 goals in 1.363 games. He is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and labelled “The Greatest” by FIFA.

Salatiel pays homage to Petit Pays and the receipt is a dulcet song in which Salatiel gathers choruses from some of Petit Pays biggest hits, blends them into one song while Petit Pays puts the icing on the cake with his amazing ad libs. In the beginning of the song, Salatiel recognizes Petit Pays 50 years in the music industry with over 35 albums in his discography. Salatiel goes ahead to praise Petit Pays in the chorus, winning awards like Pele did with trophies in his career. Petit Pays with the backups returns the acknowledgement on Salatiel’s works and crowns him the best of his generation.

Although we may have witnessed other artistes pay homage and respect to legends both living and dead, there is the need for our artistes to do more in a bid to showcase the works of our legends to the new generation. Some of these legends didn’t have a wider audience and it is duty for artistes of now to keep the legacy fresh in the hearts of music lovers. More so, paying homage should be a take home message to the younger artistes to always have respect and admiration for the legends in the industry.

Salatiel’s homage to Petit Pays is just one of many. It is worthy to note that other artistes have have been very generous in paying tributes to their legends, idols and role models. We take a look at Jovi’s homage to Petit Pays in the song “Comme Moundi” featuring Shey in the Mboko God album, Jovi also paid homage to the likes of Tom Yoms and Tchana Pierre off his 16 Wives album. In 2013, Jovi collaborated with the Legend Eko Roosevelt in the song Bush Faller.

Away from Jovi, we acknowledge Stanley Enow’s role in paying homage and working with Legends such as Petit Pays and Claude Ndam in the songs Oh Yeah and Love Song respectively. Also, from Fhish and Longue Longue in Njoh to Mic Monsta’s homage to Nkotti François in the song Local Lokito are some of the songs used to answer the calls of nostalgia and bridge the gap between the urban sound and Makossa.

From all indications, the fans are loving it. We can’t pretend we don’t need more.
