The label which was created in 2012 and functioned thus until 2015 when they got into a collaborative creative partnership with XM Music have at present moved into a new dimension.

In January 2015, RYTHMZ made a strong national debut with their revelation on “Dancia” featuring X-Maleya and Douala. They used this smash hit to visit the air waves at CRTV, TRACE Africa in February 2015, and topped the “Cameroon Hits” category on BOOM TV’s play listing. They made stage appearances in Buea, Bamenda, Pouma, Yaoundé and Douala on the MBOA URBAN FESTIVAL in Douala.

In October 2015, NO HITZ NO RECORDZ produced “Daphne – Rasteferi”, X-Maleya’s – DOUMBA, and organized a grand event dubbed the “Matriculation/Orientation Concert” at the Omnisport Complex in Buea.

In 2016, the duo produced hit singles such as their well acclaimed “Me & You”, did the production for tracks 10, 11, and 14 on the X-Maleya PLAYLIST ALBUM, X-Maleya’s – Mon Marriage, featured Mr Leo on “Madame Tout Le Monde” which featured Blanche Bailly as the main video vixen.

After repeatedly producing hit singles in recent times including “Blanche Bailly – Bon Bon”, “X-Maleya – DOUMBA” , “KO-C’s – Ça a Cuit” just to cite a few, for the culture and promotion of the Cameroonian brand of music.

RYTHMZ have repeatedly outdone themselves on projects like “Mink’s –Le Gars la est Laid”, and on international projects with Fabregas, Fally Ipupa in 2016 on the Green Peace Congo Basin Collaboration.

Cameroonian music has grown exponentially in recent years and the growth has been mainly instrumentalized by hard work and precepts of mutual support but the growth has also brought some new names to the limelight and some have has so much impact that the growth of the industry can literally be credited to them. There has also been some tremendous display of talent and genius by some Cameroonian music acts who although gone unnoticed by the public are clearly very futuristic, so these are 1O Cameroonian Tracks released Before Their Time!

10.” Azig Azig” by Rythmz: The 2018 song which could potentially be a hit but due to very weak promotion got swept under the rug too soon is a terrific blend of folkloric sounds and more modern beats. It also addresses a very sensible topic, “Azig Azig” is an indelible proof that the duo is one of the best you will be able to find on the African continent, the maturity and composition makes it a track that could really be great some time in 2025!

8.” Bodimbea” by Charlotte Dipanda and Richard Bona: These two are probably Cameroon’s greatest vocalists and even though Richard Bona is now a full time critic of the Cameroonian government, he is still probably the one who has done the most for exporting Cameroonian culture to the outside world. It is therefore no surprise that the Grammy Award winner has a track on this list and it just turns out to be the one in which he joined another flag bearer of Cameroonian culture to come out in 2011 with something that will still speak to lovers of purely Cameroonian music in 2042.

 7. “Maggie” by Andy: This is the quintessence of a love story told in a way that will remain unrivaled for long. The people of the time this song was dropped lacked the opportunity to fully understand and enjoy such music, that’s why you are hearing about it for the 1^st time. It was released 6years ago but now would have really been the time, now or in 2years time.

6. “Status Update II” by Wan Shey, Young Holiday, N.A.T: Released erlier this year, Status Update II is the best example of conscious hip hop in Cameroon and it really comes at a time when the Cameroonian public doesn’t attach a lot of importance to conscience-raising music and as such it turns out to be one of the tracks that could really be great in the future.

 

5. “Tom Yoms” by Jovi: Of course everybody will expect this man to be somewhere on this list given that his music is popular for being out of the norm. “Tom Yoms” that’s the name of one of the most prolific makossa stars back in the days. He passed away about a decade ago, having his name as song title is already a great idea, but the combination of sounds and the text makes it totally futuristic, definitely not for 2017 when it was released.

4.” Faya Di Burn” by Gasha and Magasco: This song was the indelible proof of Gasha’s uniqueness in the Cameroonian music scene, despite the great amount of creativity and the message the song didn’t really go far. Not surprised given that it belongs to another decade not this one.

 

3. “Fun” by Dready Christ: Dready Christ is first and foremost Cameroon’s best chance at having a good reggae-style export. His track ‘fun’ is one which is at the same time conscience-raising, entertaining and intriguing. With real reggae beats and sound, Dready Christ’s “Fun” is definitely out too early.

 

2. “Toi et moi” by Salatiel: High Man General Salatiel is one Cameroon’s most decisive figures in the music business. He is the founder of Alpha Better Records and a very gifted producer is also a powerful vocalist and songwriter, his track “Toi et moi” is a rare gem of a love song, it is not this songs you hear every day with popular taglines and basic rhyme schemes, it is music which speaks to the soul of the listener presenting love in a whole new manner.

 

1. “Sawa Romance” By Locko: This song just gives me goose bumps immediately I think of it. Locko permitted a love story to be told in a unique way by blending, English dialects accompanying those with top-notch acoustics in order to give great pleasure to the ears. Definitely the maturity in this song is so great that it sorted of wasted when it was released in 2016. This definitely the one song which was clearly released a lot of years before its time.

Notably with collaborations such as with Jacques Greg Belobo in “Zamba”, with Benin star Shan’L and recently he has been present on the “Power” project alongside other big names of the Cameroonian urban music such as Locko, Tenor, Mimie, Rythmz and Minks.

These exploits definitely make of Magasco a major player in Cameroonian music. So why will we be wondering whether he can shutdown the Yaoundé Multi-purpose Sports Complex?

The Empire Company superstar has a lot of fans. His fanbase has grown almost at an exponential rate, but these fans are mostly in the English-speaking parts of the country. This aspect might pose a major hindrance as his fans might not be able to displace themselves for just a concert and the predominantly Francophone public of Yaoundé might not feel very concerned about his music since the main language in his music is pidgin.

Also, we know that Maahlox who is the first to fill up the Yaoundé Multi-purpose sports complex received a lot of support from artistes and now Tenor who is scheduled to have his mega concert on 18th August 2018 is receiving a lot of support from other artistes and even Samuel Eto’o who is unarguably the most influential star in Cameroonian sports has confirmed his presence for this concert. But Magasco’s art has been the sole architect of his success and even though he has fairly good relations with many artistes, it is no guarantee that he will receive the same amount of support from such dignitaries, for an artiste like Jovi who once was sort of a mentor to Magasco but yet both men had a fall out when Jovi attacked Pit Baccardi who is the boss of Empire Company.

Even though Magasco has excused himself more than once for his involvement in a verbal battle with Jovi, it is still unclear what relations they have now, we all saw the support Jovi showed Maahlox, will he do same for Magasco if he were to announce a concert at the Yaoundé Multi-purpose complex. And what about Samuel Eto’o, will he associate his name to a Magasco concert? On the other hand, Magasco is an A list artiste with more than one hit and he is also the frontline man of one of Cameroon’s most influential record labels and as such the other members of the Empire Company crew such as

Being in a boarding school, we never had the chance to wear assorted uniforms so I always made sure my uniforms were the best. I always got warnings from our school discipline master that my uniforms didn’t conform with the school’s standards. There was this day he tore my brown ”Dilong” pants in front of the whole school. Pants which I bought with part of my pocket money. I was forced to move to the dormitory in my clean white boxers, before the whole school.
In form four, I developed this love for fitness which was inspired by a senior school mate called Chi Ngalla. I always watched how he routinely did crunches, sit ups, pull ups and so many other fitness exercises. He always got all the girls in school. So in order to attract more girls, I decided to get that awesome body and define my 6 packs too {laughing}. But the good thing is I backed all these with good grades.

I have a degree in marketing, from university of Dschang. Higher National Diploma in Marketing and Business Management from university institute of the Gulf of Guinea. I have always had a wanton quest for knowledge so I had to enroll for a series of post graduate certifications and diplomas. These certifications and diplomas include logistic and supply chain management, health and safety, contracts and procurement, digital advertising, content and inbound marketing, search engine optimization and web development.

People always told me I’ll make a good model because of my dark skin tone, sculpted cheek bones and good body build. I always knew that, but never ventured into it until recently.
I’ve worked with fashion designers like Louis Fame, Amah Bertrand and Visco Ngenge. Studio 89 has also been really good to me. We’ve been able to work hand in hand to bring every vision they/I have to light. They’re extremely talented and creative.

However, what put me on the spotlight was the role I played in Daphne’s hit song “Calee”. Daphne spotted me on the set of “Madame tout le Monde” Rhytmz ft Mr.Leo. I accompanied Louis Fame who was in charge of styling Mr. Leo, Rhythmz and X-maleya. She said she wanted someone with my features on her next video, and I said OK. After several months she contacted me on short notice and “Calee” was shot.

I’ve always loved and dreamt to work with brands like Calvin Klein, Puma, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Mai Atafo, and so many others. I’ve also wanted to work with other brands like Guiness, CIROC, Veuve Cliquot etc. It might take time but I know I have God.
My modeling and fashion career is just kick starting and there’s so much I have up my sleeves. The fashion industry is a vast world, which is still finding its feet in Cameroon. I wish to be part of this great industry. From brand influencing to creating my own shoe line, there’s just a lot I have to do.

I am a content marketer, I hold a strong conviction that marketing is not just about the products we sell, but also the story we tell. That’s why I plan on expanding my digital marketing brand into advertising.
I kick started my digital marketing career with a stellar silicon mountain startup, Makonjo Media. Under the tutelage of Otto Akama, I learned a lot about this field from writing great stories to social media marketing, blogging and digital advertising. Together we founded Afro Hustler which is one of the leading blogs with entrepreneurial content in Cameroon.
