MABANDA MAKES HISTORY AGAIN WITH SIX NOMINATIONS AT 2026 AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARDS

Cameroonian film Mabanda is once again putting the country’s film industry on the international map after securing six nominations at the 2026 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), adding another major achievement to its growing list of international recognition.

The film, produced and directed by Kang Quintus, is competing in six categories, including Best Film, Best Director for Kang Quintus, Best Actor for Kang Quintus, Best Supporting Actress for Precious Nana, Best Film in an African Language and Best Makeup for Faith Concept.

The nominations are another strong statement for Cameroonian cinema, with Mabanda earning recognition not just for its lead performances but also for the different creative talents involved in bringing the story to life. Six nominations at one of Africa’s biggest film award platforms is no small achievement, especially for a homegrown production representing Cameroon among some of the continent’s finest films.

Founded in 2005 by the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the Africa Movie Academy Awards is an annual ceremony that celebrates outstanding achievements in African filmmaking and the African diaspora. Often described as the African Oscars, AMAA recognises excellence in acting, directing, storytelling and technical production, while giving African filmmakers a platform to showcase their work beyond their home countries.

For Mabanda, however, this is not the first time the film has made headlines on the international awards scene. On May 9, 2026, it won Best Indigenous Language Film (Central Africa) at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Lagos, Nigeria. The victory marked the first time a fully Cameroonian production won an AMVCA award.

With six new nominations now added to its record, Mabanda continues to open doors for Cameroonian storytelling and prove that local productions can compete on bigger stages.

BRIDGED: The Cameroonian Drama Asking the Devastating Question, “Would You Choose Yourself or Your Twin?”

Yannick Cabrel — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 06:02:52 +0000

BRIDGED: The Cameroonian Drama Asking the Devastating Question, “Would You Choose Yourself or Your Twin?”

What would you do if the person standing between you and the life you deserve was your own twin?

That is the devastating question at the heart of BRIDGED, a powerful new Cameroonian drama that explores sacrifice, family, betrayal, identity and the painful consequences of secrets kept for too long.

Directed and written by veteran Cameroonian filmmaker N.R. Seehofer, also known as Seehofer Roland, and produced by Eweli Helen, BRIDGED is now available to watch on Eweli Helen TV, bringing another ambitious Cameroonian story to audiences online.

A family torn apart by one secret

The film opens in a suffocating shack, where Tom, a broken and desperate father, walks away from his pregnant wife, Melody, convinced that he has failed his family.

Melody eventually gives birth to twin girls. But instead of becoming the beginning of a new chapter, their arrival sets in motion a secret that will shape their lives for years to come.

With a whispered secret to Dorian, Melody makes a decision that ultimately destroys her.

Separated from one another, the twins grow up as complete strangers, living radically different lives.

Phina grows into a ruthless corporate executive who sees weakness as a choice. She has power, wealth and influence, but beneath that seemingly unshakable exterior lies a past she does not fully understand.

Dorian’s life takes the opposite direction.

After her father dies, her cruel uncle throws her out of the family home and reveals a devastating truth: Dorian is not legally part of the family.

In a single brutal moment, she loses her home, her identity and the security she once knew.

But the biggest revelation is still to come.

When the paths of the two sisters eventually cross, years of secrets, resentment and unanswered questions begin to surface, forcing a family to confront a past that someone desperately tried to bury.

A story about more than twin sisters

At its core, BRIDGED is not simply a story about two sisters.

It is a story about identity, sacrifice and the price of protecting the people we love.

The film asks difficult questions about family and the choices people make when circumstances leave them with no easy options.

How much would you sacrifice for someone else?

Can a secret meant to protect a family ultimately destroy it?

And when two people have been separated by circumstances beyond their control, can they ever truly find their way back to each other?

These questions form the emotional backbone of BRIDGED.

Meet the filmmaker: N.R. Seehofer

Behind BRIDGED is N.R. Seehofer (Supernatural), also known as Seehofer Roland, a Cameroonian filmmaker, writer, actor, acting coach and entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in the entertainment industry.

With 24+ years in the industry and 16 directed films, Seehofer has built a career both in front of and behind the camera.

His acting credits include films such as Black Vampire, VOWS, Rose on the Grave, Tenacity, Vain Glory, The Unknown, Fight Alone, Bishop, My Community, Don’t Blink, Half Heaven, A Little Lie and Defect.

His television credits include appearances in productions such as Bad Angel, SAMBA, Apple for 2, as well as South African productions Rhythm City and The Queen, among others.

One of his notable projects was Half Heaven (2022), which became the first Cameroonian film to screen in Nigerian cinemas, with screenings across cinemas in Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon. The film was also selected for the 96th Academy Awards (Oscars) submission cycle and later became available on Amazon Prime.

Seehofer’s work has also earned recognition, including Best Supporting Actor Africa at the Nollywood Golden Awards in 2023.

He later wrote, directed and starred in Defect (2025), which featured at the Power24 International Film Festival in 2026.

With BRIDGED, Seehofer returns once again as both writer and director, continuing his work in developing stories rooted in African experiences.

Eweli Helen: Producer and Executive Producer

The film is produced by Eweli Helen, a Cameroonian model, entrepreneur and media producer, and the founder and CEO of Eweli Entertainment, a company active in film production, fashion and pageantry.

Eweli Helen has also built a filmography that includes Ceaser (2016), A Little Lie A Little Kill (2017), The Entitled (2018), Defect (2025) and now BRIDGED (2026).

Her work extends beyond filmmaking. She has participated in runway shows including Afric Collection, Annual Show Fashion Week and FIAFA, while her pageantry background includes being a Miss Cameroon 2010 finalist, Winner of Miss Diligent Africa, and 2nd Runner Up Miss West Africa Cameroon.

Her involvement in BRIDGED adds another chapter to her growing work within Cameroon’s creative and entertainment industry.

A new chapter for Cameroonian storytelling

Bridged arrives at a time when Cameroonian filmmakers continue to push their stories beyond traditional platforms and toward wider African and international audiences.

Rather than relying solely on spectacle, the film places its focus on human relationships, family secrets and emotional conflict — themes that can resonate far beyond Cameroon.

With N.R. Seehofer behind the camera and Eweli Helen leading the production, BRIDGED brings together two creatives with experience across acting, filmmaking, production, fashion and entertainment.

And at the center of it all are two sisters whose lives were changed before they were even old enough to understand why.

One family. Two sisters. One buried secret.

The question remains:

If you had to choose between yourself and your twin sister, who would you choose?

BRIDGED is now available to watch on Eweli Helen TV on YouTube.

Subscribe, turn on notifications and watch the full movie to uncover the secret that separated two sisters and the truth that ultimately brings them back together.

Funny Reactions By Fans On Mr. Leo’s Red Carpet Outfit – WardZee Premiere

Victor Kange — Sun, 24 Jun 2018 08:33:03 +0000

WardZee was premiered yesterday at the Buea mountain hotel on the 24 of June 2018. The Cameroonian movie which was written and produced by Itambi Delphine happens to be one of the most anticipated and hyped movies produced in Cameroon this year. The premiere witnessed a lot of celebrities, fans, movie lovers, friends and family members of the cast and crew as they gathered to show their support to the wonderful output from the Itambi Delphine Studios.

Below is a synopsis of the movie for those who don’t have a clue about it.

LOGLINE
Sometimes all we need is someone to indefinitely believe in the words born from our endless insanity.”

One of the many celebrities who graced the occasion was Alpha Better Records LION Mr. Leo. The lamnso lyrical genius shocked everyone with his out fit as he graced the occasion with a not so cool outfit. He had on a long sleeve white tee shirt, black pants, some cool sneakers and a waist bag hanging around his neck and under his right arm.

This photo has been the most talked about photo this weekend and fans have been throwing some funny reactions we thought you should see.

What are your thoughts about Mr. Leo’s outfit? Apparently, he seems to be the only recognized artiste at the event. Should applaud his support or crucify him for his outfit?

Moreover, Delphine Itambi seems to be less worried about his outfit and more contented by his presence and support as we see in one of her comments.

Charlotte Dipanda Delves Into Acting, What Are Your Thoughts On This?

bulldozer — Wed, 13 Jun 2018 13:26:55 +0000

Unarguably Cameroonian entertainment has been going places lately, victories have been recorded and landmark achievements have been registered, first the Cameroonian International Film Festival CAMIFF recorded great success, true, there was some scandal involved, but what’s the world without enigma. Then, after that we saw the overtly spectacular performance of the Cameroonian Movie Industry as the movie “A Good Time To Divorce” claimed 6 awards including that of Best Male Actor which went to movie industry pioneer Alenne Menget.

Also, at the level of the music industry, there has been a lot of progress with a lot of new releases and tours. With all these, we can rightly say the Cameroonian Entertainment Industry is waxing strong. Another victory seems to be on the way. Charlotte Dipanda, of course when we read this name we immediately start thinking of the ecstasy she gives our ears when she gets on a song with her amazing vocal endowments, we also think of the emphasis she lays on cultural relevance in her music with her frequent and unrepentant use of Cameroonian mother tongues, a quality you will all agree with me, is of immense value. But today we are not talking about her music, astonishingly; we will be discovering her on a whole new level. The “Elle n’a pas vue” crooner is reportedly making her acting debut in a Congolese TV series titled “River Hotel” which

will premier on June 15^th with Charlotte Dipanda starring in it with other stars both of the movie and music industry in Africa such as Ghana’s Majid Michael and Congo’s Fally Ipupa. The PanAfrican serial movie which will air on TV5 Monde Afrique is directed by Didier Ndenga. While awaiting the premier and subsequent airing of this movie, we will like to know your thoughts on this career move by Charlotte Dipanda.

Is The Performance Of “A Good Time To Divorce” A Turning Point For The Cameroonian Movie Industry?

bulldozer — Tue, 05 Jun 2018 08:30:27 +0000

The Cameroonian Movie Industry has recently come under the limelight especially as one of its movies received 6 awards recently at the

Golden Movie Awards

in Accra, Ghana.

The award ceremony has done a lot to the ego of the industry and as at now a lot of people truly believe that the Cameroonian Movie Industry is on its way to greater realizations. Ordinarily, the industry is more known for scandal and amateurism than any of its works, a lot of people home and abroad do not believe in the industry while some don’t even know about movies made in Cameroon. But the movie “

A Good Time To Divorce

” seems to have conquered that stereotype at the Golden Movie Awards, and it did so in grand style.

The question now is, will the stakeholders of this industry use this recognition as leverage to get to work and deliver more works of better quality or will this just be another sudden rise that precedes a deeper fall? While we sit on the edge of our seats to see how things unfold, we enjoin you all to share your thoughts on this.

Despite The Accusations, Will You Like To Work With Africa’s Best Actor Alenne Menget In A Project?

bulldozer — Mon, 04 Jun 2018 06:31:31 +0000

Thoughts on the feud that escalated in the movie industry. The Cameroonian Movie Industry seems to have more drama in its day to day activities than it succeeds to put on our TV screens. Recently Stephanie Tum took to her Facebook profile to say a lot of things, notably she was calling out the CEO and founder of Ats Production Allenne Menget calling him a gossip and even revealing that he tried to date her. Stephanie Tum who herself is an actress, producer and philanthropist was quite bitter and blunt about the comportment of her colleague whom she took as an elder brother in the industry, and by the tone her accusations took, it seems like they were well founded and she seems to be waiting for an opportunity to further expose Allenne Menget.

Alenne who by the way was in Accra, Ghana for the Golden Movie Awards where he was nominated in the Golden Actor category, is yet to pronounce himself on the issue, he has chosen silence since the rants by Stephanie Tum. The only statements he made was for people to turn hate into love so as to see others grow.

The issue grew in pertinence when blogger and LGBT activist Kiki Bandy took to her profile to add her voice to that of Stephanie, revealing how Alenne uses blackmail, intimidation and several tactics to create confusion in the Cameroonian Movie Industry. She spoke of him deliberately excluding young upcoming actresses from movies because they refused to sleep with him. When Stephanie came out with her allegations it did sound like a rant from a dissatisfied friend but with Kiki Bandy joining her voice and revealing more on Allene Menget’s allerged misbehaviours, it is now something worth a lot of attention. Allenne Menget who won Best Actor at the Golden Movie Awards in Ghana last Saturday seems to be replying with actions, not just for himself but for the industry as a whole as the movie ”A Good Time To Divorce” grabs another 5 awards to it’s name. Actions here seem to be speaking louder than words.

The accusations about movie producers and filmmakers sexually harassing actresses for movie roles is nothing new in movie industries. Many girls succeeded through this route. It is a bad practice and must be abolished, Alenne who is accused and called all sorts of names is currently the man of the industry at the moment.

As an actress desperate to see her dream come true, with successes recorded by Alenne Menget, will you or will you not like to work with Africa’s Best Actor Despite The Accusations?

List Of Cameroonian Artistes Who Make Promises They Never Fulfil.

Victor Kange — Mon, 23 Apr 2018 19:52:06 +0000

Artistes are known to make promises in their lyrics they never fulfil in reality. For your listening pleasure, we had to put together some ”fake promises” by our Cameroonian artistes.

Mr. Leo – ”Na for you I go cut my dada”

From his debut single that sky rocketed his career, e go better had Mr. Leo promising out aunty that he was going to cut off his dreads for her, till today, he still hasn’t. Anyha!

Stanley Enow – Charlotte Dipanda I go marry you, Lady Ponce, I go marry you, Karyce Fotso I go marry you”

Its 5 years today, while celebrating 5 years of his career, King Kong would have been celebrating his union as well. Let’s just say he was lost in choice and confused on which of the ladies to pick. Well I for one know he has been too close to Charlotte. Hey! King Kong, you better put that ring on brother.

Magasco – If I give you belle na me Magasco

We are men and we know how to make these girls fall for our lies. Although not all men are the same but this is what many ladies have experienced in relationships. It might not look like a promise but we all know Magasco can’t afford to take responsibility in this Sokoto context. For someone who borrowed to impress? ”Lie Lie”

Mr. Leo – ”Girl I will die for you, if there was a way I will go back to yesterday”

Dear Mr. Leo, in désolé track, how can you die and still hope there was a way to go back to yesterday. Make her happy, fulfil your promise. LOL

Pascal Yung King – ”Close your eyes and go to Abu Dhabi you go open eye na for Santa”

Open promise by Pascal to his girl and at the same time making her know if she trusts him with a blindfold on, there’s no flying overseas. ”After all no be by force to go Dubaï”

Mr. Leo – Na For Bafut Remix

Mr. Leo seems to be toping this list. First he says, ”One one charge the Bill for my name oh my name, then changes it to matango being his taste”. He goes ahead and promises one one fufu. Empty fufu for that matter. We’re still waiting patiently.

Pascal – 100 Nkong.

Yung King features again as in the intro of his last single 100 Nkong the rapper promises drinks for everybody who took patience to wait for his new music.
”One one charge for all man wey dey for here” he said! Till today!

NB! These aren’t real promises just music lyrics that make sweet the sound. If you have yours, kindly add in the comment section.

The Movie VS Music Industry. Why Is One Getting More Attention Than The Other?

Victor Kange — Wed, 18 Apr 2018 09:40:01 +0000

Looking at entertainment in Cameroon, the music industry is far much progressing than the movie industry in almost every aspect. Nowadays we witness our Cameroonian artistes shutting down shows, dropping albums and travelling worldwide for tours.

On the part of the fans, everyone seems to be engaged in music topics. If they aren’t talking about a Salatiel outfit, they are talking about a Stanley Enow verse. The fan engagement with their artistes seems to be more effective and they tend to keep a stronger bond compared to the actors . Apart from supporting morally, it beats my imagination why some fans can take out time to go as far as being analysts, music critics, red carpet police but can’t bring in that same spirit of engagement when it comes to movies. The big question is, why is less attention paid in the movie sector?

We have had a lot of movies premiered in and out of the country, we have a good number of talented actors and actresses in the industry such as Nsang Dilong, Itambi Delphine, Otia Vitalis, Alenne Menget, Ashu Kelly, Vicky Fokala and the list goes on.

Why is less attention paid to these talents. I bet the average Cameroonian doesn’t know as many actors like they know the artistes.

We all need to grow by holding hands. First and foremost, we must detect the problems holding back the movie industry from pushing forward. The future is bright. One hand can never tie a bundle

Do you have any suggestions? Kindly drop them in the comment section.

Hello! Dear 237Showbees welcome to our very first session of your favorite brand new segment of 237Showbiz Ndem Of The Month.

In the month of January, there was a lot of ”Ndem” by some Camer artistes. A good Example is the cutlery ”ndem” by Magasco eating some roasted fish. Again he was spotted eating the famous North West dish achu with cutlery as well. All these were messed up actions by the Bamenda boy. Unfortunately, his ”ndem” couldn’t grant him the award for our prestigious ”Ndem of the Month”.

Thus, the ”Ndem of the Month” of January goes to TILLA aka Godmother when she posted about ASKIA calling her and fixing things up. This takes her to the TOP and she emerged our undisputed winner for the ”Ndem Of The Month”

See screenshot of her post below;

Tell us in the comment section if you think she ”Ndemed” or not.
